Glass under Plexiglass

Inside the visitor center, there is an exhibit of Dale Chihuly's work. Some of them are enclosed in plexiglass cases. This is one of them. Posted by Picasa

Red Blossoms

This is just a pretty plant that I saw in one of the greenhouses. Posted by Picasa

Welcome Sculpture

A Chihuly sculpture at the Welcome Center at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. This is a big one that has to be at least 15 feet tall. Posted by Picasa

Spheres on Pond

More of the Chihuly spheres floating on a pond at the Garden. The lily pads here are a type that can grow to more than four feet in diameter. However, these are no more than two feet wide. Posted by Picasa

Sign of the Times

A sign found several places around the Garden. Three hurricanes in one summer, that's a lot! I guess a lot of stuff got blown away, but what remains is beautiful. Posted by Picasa

Hanging Fern

This fern was hanging from a tree branch in one of the greenhouses. It is between six and eight feet long. Posted by Picasa

Another Chihuly Glass Sculpture

This was in one of the greenhouses at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Looked to me to be about 10 ft. tall. Hard to tell without some size reference, but it was big. Posted by Picasa

Dividing Palm Trees

Most palm trees grow straight up and have fronds on the top. This variety splits part-way up the trunk and has several sets of fronds. These must be some sort of evolutionary ancestor of modern trees. Posted by Picasa

Bromiliads

Just some pretty flowers at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Posted by Picasa

More Glass in Garden

This is some more of the Chihuly glass in the garden. The orange items are glass as is the red ball in the lower left. The rest are real plants.Posted by Picasa

Iguana On Wall

This is an iguana that was sunning itself on one of the walls at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Posted by Picasa

Grandfather Palms

These are called Grandfather palms because of the hair on the trunk. Posted by Picasa

Big Cones

These are seed cones on a fern plant, I think. I got in the picture just to show how big they are. My badge says "NICE GLASS." Posted by Picasa

Boat Full of Glass

This is another of the Chihuly glass sculptures. This one is in a rowboat anchored near shore. You can see some of the Iceburgs in the background. Posted by Picasa

The Lake with Iceburgs

This is a broad view of one of the lakes in the Garden. This one contains Chihuly glass sculptures called Iceburgs. Posted by Picasa
